Learn the essential skills to run your own games and how to how to create a safe, welcoming table - the hallmark of every great DM.

Made for women, queer folks, and anyone who has never felt welcome in traditional D&D spaces. You'll run your own game with your own group!

What You’ll Learn

You’ll learn brand new DM mechanics through narrative instruction via a story-based D&D campaign set in a generic medieval fantasy land moving you through Levels 1–3 over 10 story episodes.

How to be a DM

  • Safety Tools

    • The concrete mechanics that tables use to keep play comfortable for everyone. In this course, these aren't a side lecture; they're taught through the story, so you see them used in context before you ever have to run them yourself.

  • Improv

    • Basic “yes-and”, scene-building, and "how to keep a scene moving when a player does something you didn't plan for" — the skill of staying responsive instead of freezing or railroading.

  • Repair

    • What to do after something goes wrong at the table.

  • Check-ins

    • Regular, structured moments — mid-session or between sessions — where you, the DM, ask how things are landing for players.

  • Community Building

    • The bigger-picture skill of how you get players to feel like they're part of something, not just attendees.

Soft Skills Focus

This course is explicitly welcoming to women, nonbinary, and under-represented players. You’ll be learning how to DM surrounded by a supportive and welcoming instructor and community.

    Pre-Sessions (2 weeks)

    • Session 1: Jump into the story, build guide NPC, basic DMing essentials only

    • Session 2: Safety tools and self-care introduced through story examples

    Campaign Episodes (10 weeks)

    • Episodes 1–10: Running the full campaign levels 1–3

    • Skills introduced incrementally through story

    • Safety tools layered in with real examples

    Wrap-Up (1 week)

    • Reflection, next steps, licensing discussion

    • Full refund if requested before August 5

    • Prorated refund August 5 through August 31
